What is the Visa Strategy and Visa Policy of China?


The following countries have visa-free agreements with China and hence their citizens can have a visa-free visit to China for various visa-free periods.


90 days visa-free period for the citizens of the following countries:


  • Armenia- 90 days visa-free visit for up to 180 days.
  • Bosnia and Herzegovina- 90 days visa-free visit for up to 180 days.
  • San Marino


60 days visa-free period for the citizens of the following countries:


  • Mauritius

30 days visa-free period for the citizens of the following countries


  • Bahamas
  • Barbados
  • Belarus- Up to 90 days within any year
  • Ecuador
  • Fiji
  • Grenada
  • Qatar
  • Serbia
  • Suriname

China offers a unilateral 15 days visa-free period for the citizens of the following countries:

China offers visa-free visits for the citizens of the following countries who are visiting with a Public Affairs passport:

China Visa requirements


Visas are mandatory for citizens of countries which did not sign a visa-free agreement with China.


The visa requirements of China are given below for various visa types such as China business visa online, tourist visa, study visa, etc., 


General Visa Requirements:




  • A passport specifying the citizenship of the traveller is one of the most important documents required for a visa.
  • The validity of the visa should be of 6 months with a minimum of two blank pages.
  • Both original and photocopies need to be submitted.



  • Two photographs which were clicked recently have to be submitted.
  • The photos should be clicked according to the photo specifications.

Old Passport


  • Old Passports have to be submitted as required by the visa officials.
  • They give proof of the travel record of the applicant.
  • The old passports should be in good condition.

Tourist Visa


In addition to the above documents, the following documents should be submitted for China Tourist Visa Application online.


Bank Statements


  • These are to be submitted as financial proof.
  • The bank statements of the savings bank accounts with the signature and stamps of the bank officials should be submitted. 

Hotel Vouchers


  • Hotel vouchers confirm the accommodation details of the traveller. 
  • The hotel bookings on the hotel’s letterhead have to be submitted. 

Personal Cover Letter


  • A personal cover letter of the applicant with information about passport, travel purposes, who is bearing the travel costs in case of family or couple trip, etc., 
  • The consulate officials first check the personal cover letter, and approval of the visa depends on how good the cover letter is. 



  • A travel itinerary having the plan of the trip should be submitted. 
  • Day-to-day schedules have to be mentioned in the travel itinerary.

Certificate balance


  • This confirms the funds available in your account.
  • The balance certificate has to be obtained on the bank's letterhead and should be signed by the bank officials.

Air Tickets


  • The air tickets for the entire trip have to be submitted for getting a Chinese visa.
