Estonia’s e-Residency program is going to expand soon in 20 different countries worldwide as per asserted by the Estonia government via a statement.
When the agreement was made between the Ministries of the Interior of Estonia, the Police and Border Guard Board along with BLS International Services Limited, the expansion of e-Resident digital ID cards were revealed.
Singapore, Thailand, Japan, South Africa, and Brazil will be among the first countries wherein such a program will be going to apply.
Ruth Annus, the Head of the Citizenship and Migration Policy Department at the Ministry of the Interior stated out, “The objective of concluding the agreement is to hike up the availability of e-Residency in distinct parts of the world. Earlier in 2019, the program expanded to Japan and the US.
Further, he also notified that e-Residents would soon get digital IDs in world capitals like in São Paulo, Johannesburg, Singapore, and Bangkok.
Ruth further stated that this new regime will definitely put a valuable beneficial effect on the economic sector, and would bring relevant income to the state treasury. As per him, this regime would also assist to establish jobs for Estonian people.
The Head of the Citizenship and Migration Policy Department at the Ministry of the Interior additionally stated “Companies established by e-Resident will revive entrepreneurship and establish jobs for Estonian people which is especially significant considering the current economic situation. Further, in the coronary and post-coronary worlds, this program is likely to be a beacon to the rest of the world to prove that the economy can be resumed and enhanced without the obligation to travel internationally.”
Estonia declared its e-Residency program on December 1, 2014, turning into the first country to offer this type of service.
