On October 17, AK Abdul Momen, the foreign ministry of Bangladesh had asserted the resumption of flights to India from October 28.

Citizens of Bangladesh seeking to travel to India besides for tourism purposes will now be eligible to travel under the air bubble arrangement stated by the High Commission of India in Bangladesh on Wednesday.

Via a tweet, it has stated, “India-Bangladesh #AirBubble arrangement takes off today, 28 Oct 2020. Big relief for #Bangladesh citizens willing urgent travel to India, especially for medical purpose. All visas, except Tourist, being issued.”

On October 17, AK Abdul Momen, the foreign ministry of Bangladesh had asserted the resumption of flights to India from October 28.

In addition, three Bangladeshi airlines; US-Bangla Airlines, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, and Novo Air will first operate 28 flights a week along with five Indian carriers; Air India, GoAir, Vistara, IndiGo, and SpiceJet will run the similar number of flights a week as per asserted by Bangladesh foreign ministry.

The commencement of air bubble arrangement between the two nations will assist airlines to run international flights with some restrictions. Moreover, since July, India has created such bubbles with many countries including the United Kingdom, United States, Germany, and France.

CAAB or Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh chief Chairman Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman stated Biman has scheduled to run flights on US-Bangla Airlines on Dhaka-Chennai, Dhaka-Delhi-Dhaka and Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka routes, and Novo Air on Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka route.

Additionally, as per Civil Aviation Authority, Bangladesh, five airlines of India will run flights on Dhaka-Kolkata-Dhaka, Dhaka-Chennai-Dhaka, Dhaka-Delhi-Dhaka, and Dhaka-Mumbai-Dhaka routes.

The Indian High Commission in Bangladesh asserted the resuming of online visa application services for citizens of Bangladesh on October 9.

As of now, visas will be provided to the following categories only;

  2. Employment
  3. Medical
  4. Officials
  5. UN officials
  6. UN Diplomats
  7. Journalists
  8. Diplomatic personnel
